image filename (and therefore filepath) is too long - the system cannot read/locate it during import
Forum: Multimedia

Hi Zenobia and Kirsty,

The field used for the file name has a field length limit of 255 characters. This limit is retained for compatibility with Crystal Reports as longer fields are treated as LONGCHAR (memo).  Such field types have limited usage in Crystal Reports and cannot be used in formulas and cannot be formatted.  The field length can be increased but may cause reports to no longer work.

Could you please provide examples of filenames that are proving to be problematic or email the csv file to me, Gulhan.Atlihan@axiell.com?

Kind regards,
Gülhan

Category: Using EMu

Hi Andy,

The error message is related to policy restrictions on the desktop/server on which the EMu client is installed. It is preventing the EMu installation process from successfully registering DLLs as part of the client installation.  There should be a file named INSTALL.LOG in the Windows directory where EMu is installed. It will list the DLLs registered and if they weren’t the error. The logging message for successful registrations will commence with the line "Self-Register:" whereas failures will be logged as "Could not Self-Register:". If this is the case, our advice is to relax the policy on that desktop/server and reinstall the client.

Kind regards,
Gülhan

Problem with adding URL links into MultiMedia in EMu
Forum: Multimedia

Hi Bill,

As in your updated comment, the field to store the URL in is MulIdentifier.  Additionally, I recommend populating the MulMimeType and MulMimeFormat fields as well as per the following example:

MulDocumentType,MulIdentifier,MulTitle,MulMimeType,MulMimeFormat
U,http://zotero.org/users/4939919/items/KKSWS4TU,Zotero Record,x-url,application

Kind regards,
Gülhan

Hi Elizabeth,

I can reproduce this issue and will escalate it to the developers and log it in jira.  It occurs for entries where the amount is greater than $999.  A workaround is to generate a CSV report via Tools>Reports and to then open up the csv file in Excel.

Gülhan

Hello Elizabeth,

When pasting into Excel use Paste Special rather than Paste and select CSV from the Paste Specials box.  This will ensure the numbers are formatted as numbers or currency rather than text.

google searches and emu

Hi Nancy,

The EMu web interface (IMu) can be customised to include fields that you nominate for searching and viewing for records. Searchable fields with lookup tables can be used for subject searches too.  The entries in the lookup table are presented in dropdown lists.

Gülhan

google searches and emu

Hello Nancy,

EMu cannot be searched via Google.  You can instead use IMu to search for records in EMu via the web.  Can you please provide examples of how you expect it to work?  We will be able to provide you with further information once we have a clearer understanding.

Regards,
Gülhan

Problem with adding URL links into MultiMedia in EMu
Forum: Multimedia

Hello Nina,

A backend column named 'MulDocumentType' with the value 'U' is also required in the CSV file to be imported. This indicates to EMu that it is a URL.  The website will open up when you click the URL icon in the Multimedia window.  Please try this out and let us know the outcome.

Regards,
Gülhan

User defined colour-coding based on record value or status in List View
Forum: Wishlist

Hi Rowena,

Even though this is different to your wishlist there is some similarity so I think it is worthwhile to mention it.  One of the new features of EMu 4.1 and above is the ability to set a field to mandatory based on the data in a field. For example, you can set the TitMainTitle field to mandatory if the ObjectType field contains the data “Object”.  The record cannot be saved until the field TitMainTitle is populated.  The mandatory setting can be setup via the Mandatory Modifier registry settings.  Detailed information about this feature is thoroughly documented in EMu Help.  Each user can also set the mandatory fields to a colour of their choice so it stands out and is obvious via the Tools->Options->Colour dialogue box.

Gülhan

Does anyone utilise KeEmu using a laptop?
Category: Using EMu

Hello Lillian,

To run the EMu client, the only requirement for the Workstation is that it must run one of the following operating systems - Windows Vista, 2000, 2003, XP, Windows 7/8 and be connected to the network from which the EMu server can be accessed.   This is true for desktops and laptops.   The main thing you need to check is the strength of the WiFi or network access between the storeroom and the server.

Gülhan
