Hi,

At Birmingham Museum, we are reviewing how to record maker and production information on EMu with our new Birmingham Manufacturers project which enhances the catalogue records related with Birmingham products. I’d like to know what level of information is recorded on Parties and Sites modules at different museums.

How do you capture the complexities of a company history? When a company changed location, partnership and names, how do you record these changes? Do you create separate authority record?  Does anyone make a change to your Parties module to be able to record multiple history of a company?

We are keen to record site information up to street level and planning to add extra levels of details (District – Ward/Suburb – Street) on Locality Tab on Sites Module. I was wondering if any other museums record street on EMu, and if so where do you record that information? Do you use precise location? How do you control the standardisation of the data?

Any comments and suggestion would be appreciated.
