How are multi-part works recorded within EMu?

Hi Dave,
Thanks very much for this info.
I'm keeping both options open to me in these initial stages until I get to grips with the collection and can make a better assessment of needs. I'm favouring the single record method, but will have to see if it suits everything.
Are you creating your component info in the Part/Aspect/Description table in Measurements? Have you had any customisation? I'm not sure where/how you attach location info.
Thanks, Lisa.

How are multi-part works recorded within EMu?
Category: Using EMu

Hi Kara,
Ideally I'd like to document them within the one object record, but there is the possibility they could be moved separately.
We don't have the budget for customisation unfortunately, so I understand the only way to do this successfully within EMu is to create individual records for each part.  Luckily I don't think we have many multi-part works with hundreds of parts, unlike other institutions I've worked in - that wouldn't be pleasant!
Thanks for your response Kara.
Best, Lisa.

How are multi-part works recorded within EMu?

Hi,
I would like to ask how institutions record multi-part works within EMu.
The only method I've been shown is by using the Relationships (and Parts) tabs. However, this method treats each part as a separate object, so this isn't a very satisfactory answer.
A truly multi-part work such as an Andy Goldsworthy or Imants Tillers, is one object consisting of many parts.  Each stone or canvas board is not an object in its own right and shouldn't have a separate object record.
Does a workaround exist, or does it require some customisation?
Thanks very much, Lisa.

Hi Dave,
Were you able to write up your findings? I'm about to look at this tool, so it would be good to know what your experience of it was and if you have any tips to share from it.
Much appreciated, Lisa.
