Thanks for your response Raj!

We have a variety of crates, so they're not all a standard size. Our locations guys really like the Crates tab in the Catalogue module (in terms of fields) but creating them as catalogue records doesn't have the same benefits as locations. Yes, we do have a barcoding system.

Out of interest how does the National Museum of the American Indian handle their holders and locations?

Hi all,

We are currently looking at creating records for 'moveable storage' including crates, pallets and showcases. We've had many discussions about whether it is better to create them as Locations or Catalogue records. We are leaning towards Locations records as we can then scan objects into crates and retain a movement history.
I was wondering what others have done? Any advice/tips?
