google searches and emu

Are there any emu users out there that use google search?  How was it done?  do you attach certain fields such as subject, title, etc. to google urls?  Are there any problems in setting up and running searches?  how long did it take to set up and who did it?

Hi, thanks for replying.  This actually hasn't been completely discussed.  We have a KE rep coming in a few weeks to discuss some matters with us.  I know we want to have people be able to look up a subject and find the link to the appropriate area in our emu content.  Ideally, we want names of people, businesses, locations, companies, etc  We also want subjects such as historic events such as the Great Depression or other topics to be searchable and findable.

We wish to have a larger presence on the web and have long wanted google search to connect with emu.  I understand this is available, but our former IT person was against it for some unknown reason.  I would like to find out some information about it - how it works, how well it works, if there are any particular procedures or programs for set up, any particular costs involved.  I did contacted the Jira people and they could not give me any information.

Hello. My institution is just launching emu. Like the old one, it has access control. In the old system, everyone who enetered data dn cataloged was listed in the access control. This included volunteers, work/study students, and interns, as well as staff (past and present). For this new Emu system, our IT person doesn't want to list everyone. Anyone who is going to be working less than a year or less than 8 hours a week is to be put under general headings of user1, user2, etc. Personally, I see this as aproblem. We're going to have to keep track of people on paper for years. There will be issues with permission rights for different people. It will not provide accurate information in data entry over time for audits. I was wondering what the rest of you do in these situations? Thank you for your guidance.

I was wondering how other institutions put married couples into the Parties module. Do they list as Mr. and Mrs. David Smith? Where does the wife's name go then? Are they listed separately? Would the woman's name go in "other names"? Thank you for your guidance.

We are in the process of migrating from Argus for Windows to Emu. In Argus, we have a field line for objects in which anything being donated, purchased, etc. is listed. Below it is a subjects line in which any term, name of person, or subject pertaining to any of the acquisition is printed. We use these fields to track down the proper accession number for objects found in the collection with no number or history. We are finding that we need to add this to Emu. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem, especially if migrating from Argus to Emu and how they conquered it.
