SO, why is it impossible to have EMu generate the next largest value in an integer field unless it is forced on the backend to be unique?

Seems like a simple enough thing - has anyone else solved this?

Hi Deb,

thanks we saw use the supplementary tab a lot. What we wanted to do was put these files into the resolutions tab - but I guess that is not an optuion.

Sharon

Hi,

we did Andrew Brown sent it to me, last time I looked it wasn't on on the main documentation page.

Hey Nancy,

we have archaeological objects like those in EMu Jamie Kelly is the head of Anthro collections here. Shoot him an email jkelly@fieldmuseum.org he can tell you more about what they do.

Hi,

we had the same issue and ending up using a jpeg as the main image for the record and putting the large archival image (in our case a dng) on the supplementary table. That speeded things up no end and it means that we serve the jpeg to the web from multimedia and can choose whether or not to release the dng.

btw we batch upload using the import tool.

Just a thought

Has anyone uploaded resolutions at the same time a batch uploading multimedia?

For example we have 20,000 jpegs called

Barcode_BIG.jpg

and also two derivatives of lower resolution called

Barcode_MED.jpg
Barcode_SMALL.jpg

I want to be able to upload Barcode_BIG.jpg as the main image and have the two derivatives show up on the resolutions tab. Any ideas?

Thanks

Sharon

p.s. help@kesoftware.com from the EMu help bounces!

Hi,

was wondering if we can get some more up to date documentation for iMu? The current version on the website (that the help links to is "APIs for IMu Version 1.0.03". As we are at v2.0 it's less than helpful.

Many thanks

Is it a crystal report? Perhaps we could get the .rpt from you?

Sharon

Thanks. I'll see if the guys can get hold of it.

Hi,

has anyone worked out how to download multiple files from the multimedia module in a batch? Perhaps as a report or an export?

For example select 10 image emultimedia records and download the medium resolution jpegs all at once.

Thanks

Uploading dngs to multimedia with strange results

Re-posted properly.

Hi,

we are trying to display an icon in the catalogue using the "image display" registry entry on a field in an attached etaxonomy record. The help doesn't say that you can't but there isn't any detail about the correct syntax to use.

Has anyone else managed to do it?

Many thanks

Uploading dngs to multimedia with strange results
Forum: Multimedia

Hi,

at Field Museum we are moving away from using tiffs as archive versions to dng and so I we are trying to upload these to EMu and then generate jpegs automatically. Has anyone else tried or had any success?

So far we have uploaded them just fine and can save the file back out as a dng with no problems. Emu also seems happy to create jpeg derivatives. However, the multimedia module does not seem to recognise the correct dimensions/resolution of the original dng file.

For example: when you upload a 70MB, 600x9334 dng the resolutions tab shows 70MB, 164x256. Any derivative resolutions seem to then be generated from this information and so are too small.

Anyone else tried this? I'd really like to know because we are generating 100s per day and I'd like to get  them into EMu.

Ideas?

Sharon

Appending multmedia to the catalogue

That works just fine and cuts down the import process from 13 pages to 3 steps!

Much appreciated.

I have a user who wants to know how to go to the last assigned catalog # in their catalog.

Apart from bringing up all catalog records and sort them by catalog #, which obviously, which would take a very long time, does anyone have any ideas?

I'm trying to append emultimedia records to existing ecatalogue records using this csv with no joy. All the records exist in the relevant modules but only one attachment is made on record number 4 to irn 348310. The log file does not record any errors and so I am stumped. Anyone got ideas what I am doing wrong?

Hi,

the FMNH users have been discussing the EMu notes tab. We currently only have the multivalued notes tab in a few modules and the rest have the old single notes field which is not as useful. We would like to have the multivalued version in all our modules and are surprised that it isn't just standard out of the box so to speak.

What does anybody else think?

Hi,

we're trying to play with the xml templates for importing data but can't seem to copy and paste the examples from the help. Has anyone else come across this?

Hi,

does anybody have users who access EMu from a MS Vista pc? We do not support Vista at the Field Museum but have recently had some requests so I was wondering if there was any experience with it out there?

Thanks

Hi,

we're just about the get a new server for EMu at FMNH and are discussing operating systems. Is anyone out there running it on a 64 bit OS? I'd be interested to know how you are getting on and whether it is worth going this way or staying with a 32 bit system.

Hope you can help

Sharon
