Has anyone any experience in doing this

Hi Linda,

This is the way our clients link TRIM to EMu. As Nancy suggests, a link could be built but there would be costs associated.

Thanks Nancy for sharing your material.

Cheers,
Alan

Hi Rowena,

This might work for you.  It has a free trial download and some videos on the website to see how it works.   It pulls the image from the cache file path.  It's called Excel Image Assistant.

Good luck,
Deb

Hi Chris,

You may need to set up the Developer Tab.  In Powerpoint, go to
File > Options > Customize Ribbon
Select Main Tabs   and Select the Developer check box.

Now go to the Developer tab at the top of the screen
Select Macro Security
and Make sure the  "Disable all macros with notification" radio button is selected.
Click OK to close the Trust Center.

Also, just to let you know, there are known problems with certain versions of Powerpoint compressing images causing a degredation of image quality.  You can read more here.

Please feel free to add start a support call if you'd like further assistance.

the challenges of locating works made up of parts

Hi Gary,

EMu is set up to track everything separately as it allows for a complete history of each part - movement history, condition checks, exhibitions, loans, etc.  Putting all the items on one table might require losing some of this information.

Have you put in a Wishlist request through your Emu Support link?  We could then investigate whether or not a new tab could be developed that would list all the items on a table that could have its locations updated.

Deb

Hi Tom,

Good luck with the upgrade.  I don't know enough about the changes between 4.0 and 4.3 to know for sure, but it is possible that the fields you want to report were made "reportable" between versions, so it might be worth checking the report fields or talking with your local support rep, as well.

Just a thought.

Deb

Hi Tom,

You might find the the "Reportable" registry entry will make those fields available.  You can find more information in the online EMu Help under: Alphabetical list of EMu Registry entries: N-Z.

What controls which Fields are displayed when you want to add columns to a List view?

Hi John,

I've created a document Column-List-View.pdf which hopefully explains what you're after. Let me know if it still doesn't make sense.

Thanks

What controls which Fields are displayed when you want to add columns to a List view?
Category: Using EMu

Hi John,

The field names that appear but that you can't find in your system are probably fields that are on tabs that have been hidden.

For the fields that exist and that you can't find in the list of fields, it's usually because a column in EMu can have different name for it's associated field(s). It should be in the list of fields but it's probably there under a different name than you expect. There is a registry entry called 'Title' that allows you to change the name for the fields in that list of fields. If you don't have access to the Registry module, your System Administrator can do that for you, or alternatively you can raise a JIRA ticket  for the fields you can't find and we'll be able to rename them for you.

Best regards
Christelle

Hi Karen,

I was wondering if you had ever tried to do this using the Import Tool?  Essentially, try overwriting the existing data in the Narratives table through an import.  Not sure its doable, but happy to experiment with you, if you're interested.

Regards,
Deb

Hi John,

I can't get your attached jpg file to display clearly, but I thought you might be able to do some record updating using the Import Tool to update text fields.  You might want to talk to your local support office about this possibility if it appeals to you.

Regards,
Deb

Hi Sharon,

The Image Display Registry entry only retrieves images that are located in the ~EMu/client/etc/images directory. So I'm not sure it is possible to use this registry entry to display something from the etaxonomy (or any other) module.

Please contact your local support team for more assistance.

Hi Heather,

If you are looking to use live URLs, it is possible that configuring the default Page View will let you do what you want.  Page View displays record details using any XSLT report.  The report may include images and hyperlinks.

Take a look at the EMu help page  Displaying Records  and follow the links.  Please feel free to contact support if you need more info.

Hi Kathi,

Have you tried using the Movements Module for this?  It sounds like this would be the best module for you to use.  I don't think any customisation would be needed, based on the information in your question.

possible audit trail feature?
Category: Using EMu

Hi Sam,

You might possibly be able to do this by using a perl script and the emuperiodic program.  Have your developers look at the EMu help page  "Periodic tasks" for more information.  If you need additional help, please feel free to put in a support call and we'll see what we can do.

Regards,
Deb

Hi Sharon,

Unfortunately it's not possible.  The information in the Resolutions tab is created by EMu during the Generate Resolution process.  It's not a standard table that can be updated through an import.

You could add this as a Wishlist request for a future EMu upgrade by contacting your local support group.  I'm still new so I don't quite know how the Wishlist works.  I just know there is one.

Deb

How to Export Data and Images for an Open Data Project?

Hi Marc,

EMu has the ability to export data in XML or CSV format either as a one off or on a regular schedule.  Please check the EMu Online Help pages I've listed below for more information if you still need help.

Hi Tom,

To be honest, I've only been in support here for 2 months, so I don't really know.  Can't find anything specific in our knowledge base about your situation.  My best response would be to contact the local support office in Toronto who, if they need more info, can bring in additional expertise to get your questions answered.

Sorry I can't be more specific.  I'm still learning the system.

Forum: Searching

Hi all,

There is a similar call in User Forum that contains some example Texql using either:

an explicit Table/Row reference  CatOtherNumbersSource_tab{2} or
a count statement  count (CatOtherNumbersSource_tab) > 1

to find data in tables.

The basic process is:

1. Create a search (don't need to run it)
2. Go to File > Show Search  (to open the TexQL editor)
3. Edit the Texql to look for the fields you need.

You should note that some texql operators - like count() - puts EMu into Read-Only mode when it runs the query. If you need to work around this, save the record set as a group then view the group to edit the records.

Hi Marc,

What format are the images in? DICOM or some other format?  If DICOM, you might find some useful free/open source tools at this website:  http://www.pixelmed.com/

If you need to find records that have no attachments, please contact your local EMu support office for assistance.

You could also try a count statement such as

and
count (CatOtherNumbersSource_tab) > 1  (you might need parentheses around this statement.

Hi all,

The presentations and photos from the 11th European EMu User Conference are now available here.

Thanks
Christelle

Hi Mark,

This might help.  Going into File > Options > Formula Editor, if you look at the bottom right , you will see a box called "Null Treatment".  Try changing it to "Default Value for Nulls".  That might generate the data you want.

Or, under File > Options > Reporting look in the Reading Data section and try one of the "Convert ... NULL Values to Default" options.

Regards,
Deb

The Agenda for the European EMu User Conference has been updated.

Don't forget to Register before registration closes on the 15th April.

Hi John,

The Operations module might be of help to create the Multimedia records for your images.
Please see the release notes for further information on this module which will be available to you in your next release.

Or you could use the import tool to load your images and attached them to the relevant Catalogue records at the same time.

Please raise a support ticket if you want to discuss these options further.

Best wishes
Christelle

Hi Chris

Importing the right data will probably depend on your EMu server's language setup. Your local EMu support office would probably advise on that.

What might be worth trying here is altering the encoding of your *.csv file to be "Western Europe ISO-8859-1". If this does not do any good, try encoding the data as UTF-8.

I personally find it very easy to change character set encoding using Apache's OpenOffice.

Hope this helps!

Mo

It is not a Crystal Report Sharon. The end result can be generated from the MM module's Tools > Reports.

We are in contact now with the Toronto office with more details about this.

Mo

Hello Sharon

We have a MM export scrip a few of our customers here in the UK use to export images of the MM module.

The MM export report generates a zip fie containing the images selected from EMu and a CSV file with information about each image.

The script might require some customization to suit your requirements, but I'm sure your local EMu support office would be glad to assist with this matter.

Cheers,
Mo Jumah

Hi Scott,

If I understand correctly what you want to do, you could find the Registry setting for that report and ditto it (in the value field, be careful to remove the name of the Crystal Report file .rpt, towards the end of the value).
You should also be able to duplicate List Views and Sort that way.

I'd like to express my thanks to Yale Peabody for hosting and to Larry Gall and other for their work in organizing and coordinating the EMu Users Group meeting which ended yesterday.  You all did a fantastic job.

Gratitude is offered also to KE administrators and staff for all they have done providing past meetings and particularly all their hard work for holding and organizing the the Yale Peabody meeting.  These meetings are truly a highlight of the year as they not only provide a venue where we reconnect with our colleagues, but also help to revitalize our work efforts.  Having the opportunity to share and discuss our work and experiences-- good and bad-- lends great strength to the community and as mentioned, revitalizes our work.  In our field, it is not uncommon to become so focused on our own "corner of the world" that we forget that other people and institutions are facing and solving similar issues.  The chance to congratulate others on their successes or to provide encouragement and ideas to others is an invaluable aspect of community meetings such as this one.

The user group meeting's discussion groups and the "Showcase Your System" are instructive and beneficial in many ways-- too many to list here-- and I thank KE for including them in the program.  Finally, the fact that KE Software listens and responds to input from the user community at events such as the discussion groups  is, I believe, one of the great strengths of the company and user group meetings are both evidence and vehicle for that support.

Thank you again to Yale Peabody and KE Software for organizing and hosting the 2012 North American EMu Users Group meeting.  It was fabulous.

Best,
Richard Monk
