Who's got it?

Who's got it?

Could you please let me know if you already have the Transactions module up and running in your institution. At the Natural History Museum in London we are looking to migrate our loans to EMu soon and I wanted to gather as much info before we start.
Thanks.

Re: Who's got it?

Hello Marion,

Nice to catch up in Chicago. At present there are only two clients who are using the "Transaction" module. They are AMNH (American Museum of Natural History) and FMNH (Field Museum of Natural History). Both these institutions are using it in a slightly different way. FMNH have rolled Accession Lots and Loans together into their Transaction module. The Movements module is used for tracking shipping.

AMNH have kept Accession Lots separate and rolled Loans and Movements together. FMNH and AMNH use different models for handling preps. FMNH embed prep information (that is information about how the specimen has been prepared/stored) in with the organism information. AMNH have their prep information stored in separate records linked back to the organism record.

In order to handle the difference in the way preps are modelled the transaction modules are different internally (in fact they are completely different designs at the base level). As each institution posts their screen shots I expect you will see the differences.

Regards

bern.

Re: Who's got it?

We are in the midst of the last stages of data conversion for our newly minted Transactions module (mentioned by Bern). I am unable to attach a zip file of a powerpoint containing descriptions and explanations for the accompanying screen shots (file size issues). There is a rudimentary copy under the Melbourne meeting presentations link, but I have a newer version that has real data in the tabs, and more/better explanations. If anyone would like the zip or a full set of screen shots, don't hesitate to ask. Since each division has a lot of different prep types that they wanted spelled out in metadata, there are a lot of different tab sets, depending on what collection the transaction belongs to.

Replying to myself earlier - thanks Forbes, for your, as always, timely support!
Transactions Module ppt enclosed as a zip. Be sure to read the notes section of each page for more details, especially on the screen shot pages.
