How do you archive your Cat Scan image sequences.

How do you archive your Cat Scan image sequences.

Hi fellow EMu users -

I was wondering if anyone has been archiving CT image sequences in EMu's multimedia module? Currently I am creating a .mov of the image sequence, making a multimedia record, and then stating in the description that the original raw data files are with person-X in office-X (as we may have space issues and will not be able to hold all raw files from a CT scan)

However I have been thinking of zipping up the image sequences (not for space saving but for having them all in one location, images don't compress that well) and then placing the .zip file on the supplementary tab on the multimedia module. So that when someone sees the .mov they know they can get the original raw data on the supplemental tab. However I am worried that compressing the images will/could/maybe potentially corrupt the data of the raw files.

Has anyone run into any issues with this? Other thoughts on archiving these types of data?

Thanks!

Marc

Hi Marc,

What format are the images in? DICOM or some other format?  If DICOM, you might find some useful free/open source tools at this website:  http://www.pixelmed.com/
