EMu on 64 bit Operating system

EMu on 64 bit Operating system

Hi,

we're just about the get a new server for EMu at FMNH and are discussing operating systems. Is anyone out there running it on a 64 bit OS? I'd be interested to know how you are getting on and whether it is worth going this way or staying with a 32 bit system.

Hope you can help

Sharon

Re: EMu on 64 bit Operating system

Hi Sharon,

We're running a 64 bit so I asked our infrastructure guy if he had any comments, he said:

"We're using 64bit and the most significant incentive for doing so is that it handles large amounts of memory much better and more efficiently. Basically I'd suggest they use a dual quadcore with a minimum of 24GB of ram and 15000k rpm system and application drives. Really depends on user numbers, more than our number of concurrent users, add more memory. 64bitOS manages that amount natively."

During peak hours we're using about 55 licences, and before we upgraded to the new server we were constantly having memory issues, not such a problem now.

Cheers
