XSLT report type

XSLT report type

The Minnesota Historical Society has recently upgraded to EMu version 3.0, and we see that there's a new report type called "XSLT." KE Support tells us that KE has no user documentation available that might help us understand how to use this new report type. However, it seems that, since the report type exists, somebody out there must be using it and I'm hoping that they'll have some documentation or at least experience to share. If your organization is using the XSLT report type, please let me know. I have some questons for you!

Thanks.

Re: XSLT report type

Documentation is almost complete (within the next day or so) and once that is done it will be available through the EMuUsers.Org FAQ section.

Re: XSLT report type

Nick,
Is there an update on when the documentation for the XSLT report type will be available?

Re: XSLT report type

Hi Linda

Unfortunately the XSLT documentation arrived at EMuUsers in time for Forbes to go overseas and we expect it to be made available through EMuUsers as soon as he returns to Melbourne. In the meantime I've attached a pdf copy.

Hi all

The Page View documentation is now available from the FAQ page (under the reports section).

Re: XSLT report type

Gerard and Forbes,
Thanks for the documentation and loading it to the web site. I was actually able to recreate the report in the example. I was also able to create one of mine own from the Catalog module and share it with others, though it only contained one field and had no fancy formatting. I'm what you might call a "cookbook" programmer: give me examples and the logic behind a report and I can modify it for my own needs but I'm terrible at figuring things out from scratch. If anyone has some more complex reports/views that they are willing to share I think many of us would find them useful. Even the default page view report would be helpful. A screen shot of the results and/or a list of the fields used would make it simple enough for others to recreate the EMu end for testing.
Thanks,
Linda (NMNH)

Re: XSLT report type

Hi Linda,

A few months ago I modified one of the default reports from one of our EMu gallery clients in the effort to get it to display tables.

It does work, however its far from final and I’m fairly certain because of the unique field names it will probably only work for this one particular client. However at the very least it should give you an idea of some of the methods and techniques available.

I’ve attached a zip file, which contains the XSL Style sheet (KEGreen.xsl), an XML file with data (data.xml) you should be able to load this into directly into Firefox/IE and view the final page view without EMu. The last file is the logo (emu_green_logo.png) which is displayed at the top right in the page view. I’ve tried numerous attempts to embed this into the style sheet with no success, for now it loads it from an absolute path. The file needs to be placed in the root of the C drive (c:\emu_green_logo.png).

A screen shot of the page view can be viewed here:

The URL in the documentation for the XMLCooktop application seems to expired but it can still be downloaded from:

Re: XSLT report type

Warren,
Thanks so much. That's exactly the sort of report and documentation I was looking for. Figuring this one out should keep me occupied for quite a while.
