No. Unlike DBMS such as Oracle, EMu has been deliberately designed to be maintenance-free. EMu includes automated maintenance programs that run unattended on a schedule determined by the institution, typically at night and on weekends. These programs perform tasks normally attended to by a DBA, such as batch updates, index optimisation and data file compaction. The results of these tasks are emailed to nominated people, including our Support staff (if permitted). If problems arise, these are typically resolved by contacting our Support staff, who make extensive use of the Internet and remote access (where permitted) to quickly resolve problems.
